Master in Middle Eastern Studies – MIMES 2025

Master in Middle Eastern Studies (MIMES), is a postgraduate program promoted by ASERI – Alta Scuola di Economia e Relazioni Internazionali – High School of Economics and International Relations of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. For young scholars from Middle East region, the Med-Or Italian Foundation has made available two scholarships for MIMES, worth 12,000 euros each, to fully cover university fees and to support accommodation and food costs during the duration of the course.

    Assignment of two scholarships

    Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in partnership with MedOr Italian Foundation, will pre-select bachelor’s degree holders from Middle Eastern countries (*such as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Turkey, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Palestinian National Authority), who intend to enrol in the Master program in Middle Eastern Studies for the academic year 2025-2026.
    MedOr Italian Foundation is offering 2 (two) scholarships of the value of EUR 12,000 to cover expenses related to university tuition and fees, and to provide a contribution to travel, board and housing expenses.

    1.Pre-selection panel and scholarship amounts
    a.Acceptance into the ranked list of students competing for the scholarships will be decided by a pre-selection process nominated by the master's program Directorate and chaired by the master's Program Assistant.
    b.The scholarship grant will amount to EUR 12,000 and may be subjected to tax charges, if expected by Italian law.

    2.Pre-selection requirements set by Università Cattolica
    To take part in the pre-selection process undertaken by Università Cattolica, applicants:
    a.must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification;
    b.must be residents or citizens of a Middle Eastern country*.

    3.The University’s pre-selection steps and required documentation
    To participate in the pre-selection phase, applications must be submitted as follows.
    ❖ Applicants with a qualification issued by an Italian university should submit their application via this portal: https://master.unicatt.it/ammissione
    ❖ Applicants with a qualification issued by a non-Italian university should submit their application via this portal: https://international.unicatt.it/

    Applicants must be in possession of all the documentation required to international students applying for the Master program.
    They must indicate in their application that they intend to compete for the scholarship grant.
    They must attach a copy of their state passport or proof of residency.

    4. Application submission timeframeApplications may be submitted:
    From July 11th, 2025, to September 24th, 2025.

    Only complete applications will be taken into consideration.

    5. Administrative management
    The administrative management of the scholarship grants is entrusted to the Master’s Office of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
    The Global Engagement and International Education office will be responsible for providing support for entry procedures to candidates who require a study visa.

    6. Assignment of the scholarship
    The amount for tuition and university fees (7,500 EUR) will be allocated in January, at the beginning of the program.
    The amount (4,500 EUR) for travel and living expenses will be paid to the scholarship recipients in two instalments:
    2.500 EUR by the end of December 2025;
    2.000 EUR by the end of April 2026.
    These sums could be subjected to tax deduction in compliance with Italian tax legislation.

    7. Conditions for termination
    If a scholarship grant recipient’s attendance at the Master program falls below the minimum required (absence allowed up to 10% of classes, for any reason), if the recipient’s performance reasonably expected levels, or if the recipient does not fulfil students’ obligations, the University may stop payments of the scholarship grant in agreement with MedOr Italian Foundation, and direct the remaining amount to other students on the Master program or similar courses.
